7 New WWE Directions After No Mercy 2016

6. Curt Hawkins Actually Having Matches

Before the pay-per-view aired, Curt Hawkins promised everybody that he would step foot in the ring at No Mercy. Doing exactly that, the pompous showman revealed during a special 'Curt Hawkins Announcement' that he would be wrestling his very first match for the brand on the upcoming episode of SmackDown Live.

There's something alluring about the persona Hawkins has crafted for his WWE comeback. He's being given much more time on the microphone to actually sell a character, something the guy wasn't afforded during his previous run from 2006-2014. That's heartening, and as he said so himself Hawkins will soon be wrestling again on WWE television.

Where he fits in is anyone's guess. Could Curt Hawkins be an ideal future opponent for new WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler? Perhaps, although there's a good chance Ziggler will have to continue battling The Miz for the time being.

For now, Curt Hawkins should be taking baby steps. As No Mercy showed, the man does have personality and can cut an interesting promo. Now it's time to get him in the ring to showcase his abilities between the ropes against names like Jack Swagger and Kalisto.
