7 Notoriously Hated WWE Storylines (That Weren't Actually So Bad)

Surely there were a large number of religious WWE fans who weren't too pleased to see their lord and saviour feverishly mocked by a muscle-bound millionaire with a serious god complex.

But for those of us who don't mind seeing deities dragged through the mud at the expense of a born-again Christian, it was a dark delight. Besides, if Shawn Michaels - who'd recently found God after years of drug abuse - could take the joke, then we needn't be offended by Vince's antics.

And let's face it, Vince McMahon is always at his best when he's backing up his intense megalomania with some physicality, and any opportunity to watch him slug it out alongside Shane-O-Mac is typically going to be an enjoyable experience. And that "tag team match" with Shane and Vince on one side and Shawn and "God" on the other was about as entertaining as they get.

(Remember that diving crossbody Shawn did to Vince that sent them both flying off the stage? Good times).

This blasphemous angle also provided for some surprisingly subtle and clever bits of humour between Vince and Shane, including that glorious church segment.

Sure, the whole McMahonism religion thing might've been a bit much, but the end result was fully outrageous in the best way.
