Hey, don’t laugh, this could actually happen. In a world where Jinder Mahal is WWE champion, don’t scoff at the idea that he could actually hold the title until WrestleMania and face off against Mojo Rawley of all people. It’s very similar to 2004, when JBL won the title out of nowhere in the middle of the year, and then held on until WrestleMania 21, where he put over young up-and-comer John Cena.

The comparison may seem daft to you, but it’s clear WWE see something in Mojo Rawley. Aside from his physique and boundless energy, his gimmick of a rowdy fratbro endears to a certain male audience, much like John Cena’s thuganomics gimmick from the early 2000s. Plus, you can see the mainstream crossover appeal Mojo has, as evidenced by his friendship with New England Patriots tight end and professional fratbro Rob Gronkowski. WWE have already utilized this friendship, having Gronk help Mojo win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at this year’s WrestleMania, against none other than Mahal.

Is it really a stretch to think WWE, for a WrestleMania moment, would have Gronk in Mojo’s corner as he defeats the evil foreigner Jinder for the WWE title? Vince is probably already foaming at the mouth thinking about the SportsCenter segment the next day.
