7 Promises AEW Have Made Since Launching (But Haven't Kept)

6. Cody's Roster Claims

In August 2019, two months before Dynamite had even debuted, Cody sent the following tweet to a fan commenting on the abundance of smaller wrestlers on AEW's talent roster:-

This sounded very exciting. The AEW roster wasn't quite what it is today, but the promotion had confirmed 49 wrestler signings by that point. This comprising just 40% of the talent pool would mean over 100 active wrestlers under AEW's banner. Of course, this would be far too many for a company with only two weekly hours of network programming, though it got fans hyped about a bunch of new signing announcements that never came.

'The American Nightmare' acknowledged his mistake a few months later. "I think that number comes from the fact that I didn't go to college and I'm not good at math," he told the media. "Honestly, we have a lot of the roster left. I don't know if I was on the nose with my 40%."

While the roster has expanded since then, we're talking about a handful of names here and there - not the group doubling in size.
