7 Reasons Braun Strowman Shouldn’t Become WWE Universal Champ At No Mercy 2017

1. The Crowd May Turn On Him As Champ

If there's one thing WWE's audience has shown itself to be over the years, it's fickle. When some fans get what they want, they instantly turn on it like a spoiled child. That would be a disaster for WWE and Braun Strowman, because his popularity is merited. Nobody should enjoy the idea that he's a flash in the pan.

It is however important to remember that Braun started to get huge babyface reactions when he was pasting Roman Reigns regularly. Living vicariously through the monster as he hammered the unlikeable 'Big Dog', fans reveled in the idea that Strowman was physically playing out their own distaste for Roman.

Due to this, there's also a notion that Braun is a fan-made hero. WWE tried to cast him as a vicious heel, but through a combination of rebellion, hatred for Reigns, and sheer bad-assery, he became someone to root for. This has happened before, and it usually leads to those same people turning their backs on something they once clamoured for.

Should Strowman get the Universal Title and suddenly find himself booed by fans for the wrong reasons, then it's hard to see where WWE go from there. Their track record of rescuing such situations isn't great.
