7 Reasons Braun Strowman Shouldn’t Become WWE Universal Champ At No Mercy 2017

2. Braun Doesn't Need A Belt To Be Over

Who really looks at Braun Strowman and says, 'Gee, he badly needs a title around his waist otherwise he'll struggle'? This obsession that everybody must hold a World Title in modern wrestling needs to go away, because it's just not realistic. Look at Bray Wyatt for an example of how little winning the top prize can do for your career.

People barely remember that Wyatt had a World Title earlier this year. Worse, that was the WWE Championship, which is treated in-house as more prestigious than the Universal Title. Someone who looks and acts like Strowman doesn't need a belt hung over his shoulder. That combined with the fact it's just too soon anyway means he shouldn't win at No Mercy.

Braun is progressing just fine without any titles. There's time for that to change, but his motivation right now should be mauling his opponents and proving that he's the alpha male in WWE as a whole, not just on Raw. That could even be the story heading into Survivor Series when WWE inevitably book a Raw vs. SmackDown elimination match.
