7 Reasons It's Time For CM Punk To Make His Wrestling Return

1. A Major Power Play

Wrestling is a very egocentric business, and has been since its inception. It's all about men carrying entire companies on their backs, holding as many championships as they can, and eventually earning the respect and adoration of fans and peers alike.

If there's one thing both CM Punk and Vince McMahon understand, it's ego, and while they may currently be staring at each other from opposite parapets, that doesn't necessarily have to be the case.

Vince McMahon and Eric Bischoff both knew that they could use each other's inherent hubris to fuel the fires of the Monday Night Wars, and even Conor McGregor used his Twitter-bashing of WWE's stars to build his own brand. Both Punk and McMahon could potentially set aside their real life differences in order to settle them under the guise of kayfabe, allowing Vince to make a lot of money from the resulting controversy, while simultaneously letting Punk air his grievances with Vince on live TV.

It'd be a risky move for Vince, since CM Punk has a documented history of going off-script when the mood suits him, but if played correctly, it could be a win-win situation for both men. Punk wouldn't come off looking weak or cowardly for returning to the company that fired him, because he'd be giving them a public hazing night after night.

Meanwhile, McMahon would have to undergo some personal humiliation - something he's not exactly a stranger to - but he'd reap the rewards in the form of cold, hard cash.
