7 Reasons Nobody Has Really Missed John Cena

5. Inevitable Squashing Of Kevin Owens Has Been Avoided

The 'New Face Of America' gimmick Kevin Owens has going on is tailor-made for a conquering babyface hero to put the Canadian in his place and rid him of that moniker and the United States Title. There's still a chance Cena could be that man, but at least KO has had a few months to develop his new character direction.

As soon as Chris Jericho was out the picture, Owens moved to SmackDown and started naming himself the 'New Face'. Had Cena been on the scene, WWE creative would have found it hard not to book Cena to beat him quickly, take the title from him and leave KO without purpose on Tuesday nights. Owens has flourished on SmackDown because Cena hasn't been around.

Able to get his new heel persona over without any hot-shot booking that would spoil it, the US Champ is the best choice as titleholder right now. That only became apparent over time, but time isn't something Owens would have been granted had Cena been on the active roster.
