7 Reasons Randy Orton Has Nothing Left To Give WWE

6. Diminishing Returns

There was a point in 2011 when Randy Orton was the best wrestler in the world. That is an arguable point, of course, but it is difficult to take into account the classic matches he had with superstars of all sizes and styles and not, at least, make the case for him being the premier performer in the biz. In the years that have followed, though, his performances have become less and less consistent. This year has been one of his most disappointing for sure, a feud with Seth Rollins really failing to generate that one great showing from Orton to convince fans that he was his same old self. Add to that a tedious and dull series with Sheamus and it was plain to see that Orton was not the same guy he was just four short years ago. Hell, he was not even the same guy he was when he was working strong television and pay-per-view matches with Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in the summer of 2014. The fact of the matter is that over the years Orton has, from an in-ring perspective, been a case of diminishing returns. Perhaps wear and tear have adversely affected his performances, or maybe it is a lack of motivation based on his place on the card and what he has been handed by the writing staff. Whatever the case may be, Orton's work over the past year has been an exercise in mediocrity. It has been lacklustre and totally uninspired and has left the fans feeling the same.
