7 Reasons Why The Rock Is The Best Talker Ever

3. He Is Serious When He Needs To Be

http://youtu.be/bnfxS9v78x4 To be a great talker, you need to know when you can be funny and when you need to become a serious guy. The Rock has always been able to say the right thing at the right time. That's why he's a natural at it. While his jokes may come off as corny sometimes, they are there for entertainment purposes. Think about it this way. If he was out there saying "I'm going to kick your ass" then he'd be like every other wrestler in the history of the business. He was always able to put his own unique twist on everything he said. It didn't matter if it was a WrestleMania main event against Steve Austin or making fun of Billy Gunn, he could always mix in the comedy with the serious approach. Part of the reason he could make the serious stuff work is because he looks like a legitimate athlete that could kick somebody's ass. If it was a 5'8" 180 pound guy doing The Rock's promos it wouldn't be the same. However, when you're 6'5" 270 pounds you have a lot more credibility. When The Rock gets in somebody's face to tell them he wants them to bring it, he gets his point across. When Rock was doing his promos in 2013 with CM Punk it was some of the best work of his career. Punk was the kind of no nonsense heel that Rock could trash talk to without throwing in as much jokes. There were times when Punk was just as good on the promos as him too. When Rock was against Cena, especially the build to their 2012 match, he did a lot of serious ones too. He really needed to do that because there were fans that didn't like that he was only a part timer, so for him to talk about his career and how much WWE meant to him really helped a lot. Knowing when to be funny and when to be serious is an important part of being a great talker.
