7 Reasons Why The Rock Will Wrestle At WrestleMania 31

2. At 42 Years Old His In-Ring Career Is Winding Down

Hercules The Rock When The Rock had his three matches in 2013 (two against CM Punk, one against John Cena) there were times when he looked like the old Rock and other times where he looked like somebody that was past his prime. That was bound to happen because he stopped wrestling regularly about a decade earlier. Not only that, but his body type was different. The 2013 version of Rock weighs about 30 pounds more than the 2003 version and he's a lot more bulkier too. Because of the extra bulk he has lost some of the speed that made him such a standout when he first started in WWE. He wasn't just some 250 pound power wrestler. He had that raw athleticism that he needed to harness, which he did. When that happened he developed into a very solid worker from about 2000 to 2003. If he never left WWE to pursue his movie career he likely would have had the best matches in his career in the mid to late 2000s because a lot of wrestlers peak in their mid 30s. We all know that he stays in tremendous shape all the time, so it's not like he's going to get fat in the next five years. However, he knows from being a lifelong wrestling fan that if you hang around too long you really start to lose the things that made you special in the first place. He has to realize that father time catches up to everybody. If he wants to have more matches he better do it soon.
