7 Reasons ROH Deserves A TV Deal Far More Than TNA
4. The Link With New Japan Pro Wrestling
NJPW are perhaps the most exciting wrestling organisation in the world - certainly outside of America - and Ring of Honor have made an incredibly smart decision in establishing cross-promotional links with a very popular competitor. Both companies are looking to expand into a more global market, and could greatly help one another in challenging the WWE's monopoly over the mainstream wrestling business. Like ROH, New Japan has some of the world's best wrestlers on its roster, including Kazuchika Okada, Shinsuke Nakamura, and old TNA favourite AJ Styles. Many of their homegrown workers have incredibly strong gimmicks, easily distinctive enough to get over with an English-speaking audience, and an alliance with Ring of Honor can only strengthen both promotions immensely. As a side note, it doesn't hurt that both NJPW and ROH were name-dropped by CM Punk in his infamous 'pipebomb' promo of 2011. Although four years ago now, the segment still lives long in the memory, and even such a brief mention of both companies will have provided a lasting point of reference for otherwise unfamiliar fans.
