5. It's Too Close To Lesnar's Podcast Appearance
Austin's Network podcasts have been fascinating, a groundbreaking example of WWE breaking kayfabe in a big way. It's a necessary step in the modern era, a time in which a sizeable chunk of the audience (ie, everyone but the kids) knows that it's all a show, and will readily take to social media to discuss it. WWE may be late to jump on the bandwagon, but it's certainly a move in the right direction. However, in certain cases, a more old-school mentality would be more beneficial - and this is definitely one such example. WWE have chosen the worst possible time to have Brock Lesnar on the podcast, days before his match with Taker. The Deadman is regarded as one of the last bastions of kayfabe in the business, a man who never breaks character, and always keeps a noticeably low profile out of the ring. This attitude has helped him build an impenetrable mystique around his character, one which risks being shattered before the PPV. Imagine trying to immerse yourself in the match so soon after Lesnar's interview; it's hard to buy into the idea that the pair truly hate one another if Brock mentions what an honour it was to break the streak, or pays Taker any compliments at all.
