7 Reasons Why Lucha Underground Is Way Better Than WWE

7. Use Of Stars To Put Over New Talent

One of the things that Lucha Underground has been successful in doing during its first few months in existence is taking former talents from WWE and moulding them into their own superstars who are involved in intriguing stories and incredible action. So far Lucha Underground has been able to pick up the services of former WWE superstars John Morrison (Johnny Mundo), Ezekiel Jackson (Big Ryck), Chavo Guerrero, and then just recently they made a huge announcement that they had secured the talents of former WWE champion Alberto del Rio (Alberto El Patron). But here is the thing €“ unlike with TNA for example, Lucha Underground hasn€™t used these stars to bury their home grown players. All of these ex WWE superstars are involved in major storylines on the show, but they are involved in storylines with younger, fresh, and mainly unseen talent (to American TV audiences anyway). And through this incorporation of familiar faces, the home grown talent is being considerably elevated and put over to the new Lucha audience. There is no better example of this than the ongoing feud between Chavo Guerrero and Sexy Star. Chavo has been a bastard of a heel since week two in Lucha Underground, and this has led to a feud with the female wrestler Sexy Star who was infuriated when Chavo turned his back on his old friend Blue Demon Jr. Chavo is getting some amazing heat that he hasn€™t had in years (unless you count the X-Pac heat he got as Kerwin White), and he is using this heat to elevate an incredibly talented worker who just happens to be female €“ a concept WWE haven€™t been able to wrap their heads around since the days of IC Champion Chyna. Chavo is still getting his fair share of TV time, but he has used it to put over someone that most wrestling fans outside of Mexico would never have heard of €“ and that€™s the only way a promotion can grow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIpAN7bGX-w On WWE every week we have guys like Triple H burying their own roster, and now the commentary crew have even got in it, with JBL inexplicably destroying the Ascension when they€™ve only been on the main roster for a few weeks. It does the product no favours, it alienates fans, and it€™s the most embarrassing form of shooting yourself in the foot possible. And let€™s not even discuss the recent lumberjack match where the nearly forty year old John Cena practically single handedly destroyed 13 of WWE€™s up and coming young wrestlers. Lucha Underground gets that established wrestlers create new wrestlers. WWE thinks it€™s the other way round.
