7 Reasons Why Sting Is WCW's Biggest Ever Star

6. He Had The Coolest Look...Twice!

Sting Stinger Surfer Sting or Crow Sting? What do you prefer? When WWE released the commercial for the WWE2K15 video game they made it a point to mention that both versions of Sting would be in the video game. When Sting started to make his name on the national level in the NWA in the late 1980s he did so because he was a muscular guy that was very athletic and full of charisma. He also had a look to him that was different than everybody else. Instead of looking like some generic wrestler he painted his face and spiked up his blonde hair to make him stand out. It was the look he kept until late 1996. The debut of Sting in the black coat, black ring gear, white/black face paint happened on the October 21, 1996 edition of Nitro. He showed up to attack the fake Sting. At the time, they were teasing the idea that he might join the heel NWO group and since he was in the NWO black/white colors it looked like it might happen. He didn't join the group. He just said "the only thing for sure about Sting is that nothing's for sure." It's a line he would utter many times over the years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2uTWRLGf7w The Crow version of Sting is the look that he has used ever since that debut in 1996. He used it until WCW died in early 2001 and he used it when he was in TNA. When he starts in WWE (whenever that is) he'll probably use that look there too. He's in his mid-50s. He's not going to pull off the younger surfer look anymore, that's for sure! Give him credit for being smart enough to change when he did although it's not like fans hated the blonde surfer look either.
