7 Reasons WWE Is Failing To Engage (And 3 Ways To Solve It)

8. Who's Entertaining Me?

WWE BACK SOON

Eras change. The Rock and Stone Cold and CM Punk weren’t going to entertain forever. But who’s entertaining now? Kevin Owens is solid, but it's hard to shake the feeling that he’s held back. Enzo and Cass are amusing, but their schtick won’t last forever. Same with New Day. Cena is Cena. People who are fantastic on the mic and work magic in the ring are a dying breed.

Look, wrestling has to be about more than what happens in the ring. There’s a reason the Hall of Fame is littered with people who couldn’t wrestle very well, but could entertain the masses at will. But the problem the WWE faces is two-fold. One, they have to figure out who can entertain, and who can’t. Two, they have to recognize those who deserve pushes and try to foster burgeoning careers—not kill them before takeoff.

One can only wonder how CM Punk’s career would have turned out had Vince given him his push years earlier. Or how Ziggler would have reacted had he been pushed as he should have following Survivor Series 2014. Hot streaks paired with talent that deserves it can be wildly entertaining, and bring back casual viewers.

How do you create a hot streak?
