7 Reasons Why WWE Money In The Bank 2011 Won't Be Topped

4. Christian Winning World Title Over Randy Orton Continued That Story

It can be argued that the feud of the year in 2011 involved the Smackdown World Title and the rivalry between Randy Orton and Christian. They did a really good job of it with Christian finally winning his first World Title in a ladder match against Alberto Del Rio and then days later he lost it clean to Randy Orton. Fans online were really upset about it because of how long it took Christian to get to that level. When Christian got another shot, he couldn't beat him so he turned heel and it led to more matches between the two. This match at Money in the Bank had a stipulation that if the babyface Orton was disqualified then he would lose the World Title. Christian did his best to infuriate him during the match as he spit in Orton's face, which led to Orton kicking him in the groin and that was enough for the DQ loss. Christian became the new World Heavyweight Champion after outsmarting him. Post match, Orton attacked him to get his heat back. The Spanish announce table didn't break after Orton hit an RKO to Christian on it. The rivalry started in the month of May and ended at SummerSlam in August with Orton emerging as the winner while Christian only could muster this DQ win for the World Title. It's sad that WWE didn't book Christian stronger in the feud although that's really the only complaint about it. The matches were so good that it didn't really matter too much. It was a match that added more heat to an already hot fire, so it was another example of effective booking on this show.
