7 Reasons WWE Payback PPV Has Died A Slow Death

2. The Shield's Rematch With Evolution Doesn't Seem Necessary

The problem with The Shield's match against Evolution is that The Shield already beat them clean at Extreme Rules. They should not have had that as a finish if they were going to set up a No Holds Barred match at Payback. That tells me that maybe they didn't plan that far ahead. We know there were issues with Batista and questions about if he was going to stay until Payback, so that's why he got pinned at Extreme Rules. However, they're building to a match where they are likely to do the exact same finish with The Shield getting the win. This match could lead to something further with Roman Reigns further establishing himself as a top guy, which could set up a heel turn by the other two guys or maybe Sheamus ends up joining Evolution to keep things going with this rivalry. There are a lot of possibilities. In terms of match quality, it should be excellent. The problem is that a lot of people already saw it and may want something else. Instead, it's more of the same over and over again.
