Unless you've not checked any wrestling-related news today, you'll be aware that Finn Balor's record-breaking reign as NXT Champion has come to an end. At an NXT live event last night Balor was defeated by perennial rival Samoa Joe, clean as a whistle, in the middle of the ring.

Title changes at house shows aren't new and often see the belt won back within days. The timing here seems to suggest this will not be the case. It seems rather coincidental that Balor has dropped the title at a house show round about the same time that his former Bullet Club buddies Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have arrived on the main roster.

Will Finn Balor appear at Payback? Well, maybe. It is clear that all and sundry are high on the former champion, be they his peers or even management. Injuries notwithstanding the Irishman is likely to have a long and successful career in WWE, and that era may begin on May 1st.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
