7 Reasons WWE Payback Will Be The Dawn Of A New Era
1. The Arrival Of Balor Club
The intrigue, oh god the intrigue.
The main event of WWE Payback will see Roman Reigns defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against none other than AJ Styles. If someone would have told you at Payback 2015 that that would be the main event a year later, I dare you say you would have questioned their sanity.
Not only that, but the build up to the match has seen Styles' former Bullet Club allies Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows attack not just the Usos but Reigns himself. The relationship between the former Bullet Club trio has been acknowledged on screen and seems to be the driving point for the story.
The plot went from thick to sludge last night as Styles' predecessor at the helm of Bullet Club, NXT's Finn Balor, lost his NXT Championship to Samoa Joe. The rumour mill is now in overdrive, with many speculating that Balor is about to arrive on the main roster.
Will there be a Bullet Club reunion at Payback? Will Balor, Anderson and Gallows interfere and allow Styles to win the title? Or will the trio cost Styles the match, sparking off a feud between Styles and the newly established Balor Club? All of those t-shirts were printed for a reason you know.
Regardless of what happens, WWE Payback promises to be a truly fascinating event, and one that will usher in a bright new dawn for World Wrestling Entertainment.
