7 Stars Who Turned Down WWE Contracts

1. Terry Funk

WWE.comWWE.comMuch like Rhino, Terry Funk was approached to take part in the ECW One Night Stand show. The difference however, is that Funk was approached a year earlier to participate in the original pay-per-view, one that Rhino actually did show up at. Terry Funk spoke candidly about the situation on Jeremy Borash's 'Forever Hardcore' documentary, even displaying the WWE contract offer for the cameras. Funk declined the WWE's offer in favor of competing at Shane Douglas' Hardcore Homecoming show, which he considered to be the more genuine of the two shows. Funk even shed tears while talking about the decision, stating that he passed up a much larger sum of money from the WWE, and that he's done that consistently throughout his career. Funk's tears didn't last too long, however, as he did appear the next year at the WWE/ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view, and in a prominent role, as he and Tommy Dreamer took on Mick Foley and Edge. Funk also appeared on episodes of Raw in order to promote the match, and in 2009, he and his brother Dory were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
