7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 1992

3. It Had The Most Talented WWE Roster Of The 1990s

Here are the names from this match that are currently in the WWE Hall of Fame based on their order of entry: Ted Dibiase, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Tito Santana, The Texas Tornado (Kerry Von Erich), Greg Valentine, Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, Jim Duggan, Jimmy Snuka, Colonel Mustafa (Iron Sheik), Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter. That's 13 in all. Bret Hart would have been in it if he wasn't injured. Others not in include Randy Savage, who is probably going in this year or next year. The Undertaker is obviously a lock whenever they want to put him in the next few years. Wrestlers that have passed away like Davey Boy Smith and Big Boss Man could go in any time too. That means that at least half of the people in this match are Hall of Famers. There aren't a lot of other Rumble matches where you can say that and likely the only one from the 1990s where at least half the performers are Hall of Famers. We all know there are question marks about WWE's Hall of Fame, but a lot of those names are still some of the best in wrestling history. There are a few times in the 2000s where the talent level is comparable to this like in 2001 when there are a lot of great performers in the match, but this was definitely the best roster of the 1990s. What's amazing about it is the 1991 Rumble match was sorely lacking in big names while the years from 1993 to 1997 were really hurting too while 1998/1999 were still building up to something bigger. It just seemed like WWE was able to get everybody together for this time period because by the end of the year things changed so much. Why? The steroid investigation was underway. It blew things up big time.
