In NXT, ‘quantity over quality’ truly is the name of the game. WWE Survivor Series promises to be another four-hour-plus slog with matches full of interference and shenanigans, as the largest wrestling promotion on the planet desperately tries to hold on to all of the moving parts in its hands. NXT TakeOvers? Five matches, clean finishes, logical progression. More often than not, the developmental special events are wrestling done well.

NXT TakeOver: WarGames will take place the night before Survivor Series, and the famous match in its name will tell you how excited you should be. The first double-ring steel cage match in WWE will see nine of the finest stars on the brand do battle, three teams with different agendas all vying for the same outcome. It should be one heck of a war.

A new NXT Women’s Champion will also be crowned, while Drew McIntyre puts his title on the line against a rejuvenated Andrade Almas. NXT is still WWE’s most consistent wrestling show, and it is imperative that the brand continues on its historical path in Houston. The event will set up NXT for 2018 - certain mistakes must be avoided.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
