7 Things That Must Happen At WWE Extreme Rules 2017

4. An End To Nostalgia

Since returning at WrestleMania 33 in thrilling fashion, The Hardy Boyz have been protected to the extreme. The RAW Tag Team Champions have dominated in tag team and singles action, picking up regular wins over Cesaro & Sheamus over the last couple of months. The tide needs to turn, and it needs to turn on Sunday.

If The Hardy Boyz retain the championships on Sunday night, the Cesaro & Sheamus partnership is pretty much done. The recent heel turn breathed new life into the foes-turned-friends, and the only logical move is for them to recapture the championships they lost at the 2017 Royal Rumble. The stipulation gives Matt & Jeff an easy way out too, with the brothers being protected in defeat.

As fun as The Hardy Boyz nostalgia tour has been, both Matt and Jeff have outgrown the tag team. That was true a decade ago, and it is true now. The tag team division on RAW has a lot of talent but that talent isn't getting a chance to shine because of the focus on Team Xtreme. Sheamus & Cesaro, The Revival and Gallows & Anderson need to be the focus now.

The return has been fun, but normal service needs to resume for the tag team division. Nostalgia can only take you so far after all.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man.
