3. Urijah Faber Gets The Winner Of The Bantamweight Championship Fight
Although nothing has been made official, the consensus opinion is that Urijah Faber earned himself yet another title opportunity with his convincing decision win over Frankie Saenz. There was once a time when Faber was considered the elite of the elite, a WEC kingpin who name was always in the pound-for-pound discussions. Since 2008, however, Faber has gone an dismal 0-6 in championship fights, with his last two opportunities being defeats at the hands of Renan Barao. His track record outside of title fights continues to be impressive, and that combined with his exciting style, popularity and shallow talent pool in the lighter weight classes keep thrusting him back in the picture. Should he be granted the shot, he will either face new champion Dominick Cruz or a retaining TJ Dillashaw. Both present interesting match-ups for different reasons. Faber and Cruz have some very real heat between the two of them and have split their series at one win a piece. Dillashaw and Urijah were friends and teammates but have since parted ways, and not on the most amicable of terms, with Faber commenting that he'd been "released from the friendship" and is now free to fight his former Alpha Male cohort. Either one would be an interesting fight but if given the choice I'd much rather see Faber face Dillshaw, and I'm betting the majority of MMA fans agree.
