This is where things got a bit weird in Untold.

According to WWE and Shane McMahon, 'Street Fight' matches were abnormal in the company at the time. A graphic flashed up reading, "Both men would train for a match that was outside their comfort zones", and Shane said such bouts were a "bit of an unknown". Huh? What a strange thing to say given McMahon's history.

By '01, fans knew what they were getting from a Shane match, and they damn sure knew what a 'Street Fight' entailed. Shane's recollection doesn't add up when he'd just wrestled his father in a violent brawl at WrestleMania X-Seven, followed that up by jumping off the titantron at Backlash and had earlier performed similar stunts at SummerSlam 2000 and beyond.

Not only that, but Triple H vs. Cactus Jack, Triple H vs. Vince McMahon and The Rock vs. Mankind had all been wild matches over the previous few years. This was one of the lowest points of the doc; there was no need for WWE to pretend that Kurt and Shane were reinventing the wheel. They could've easily said it was a slight departure for Angle and moved on.
