7 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Sting

1. He's One Of The Most Popular Wrestlers Ever

While it's hard to know exactly how many days Sting spent as a babyface in his wrestling career, it's fair to say that at least 95% of it was spent as a good guy. Fans have always loved the Stinger from the time when he was coming up the ranks in the NWA to becoming an established top guy in WCW and later becoming a veteran legend in TNA. He had some heel runs in his career, but for the most part he was usually the guy that the fans loved to cheer. Part of the reason he was such a popular guy was his look. In his early years he had the beach blonde spiked hair with the very recognizable face paint and the tights that were usually bright. He always wore those bright colors to make him stand out more. Then he re-invented himself as a darker character with the black and white look. It worked too. It shows why he's such a talented performer. He also had the charisma. From his customary yells during his matches to the frenetic pace of his match, Sting always found a way to keep fans interested in matches that he did. The Stinger Splash that he did in the turnbuckle is something that was around wrestling before him and people use it all the time, but when he did it the move just seemed cooler. If Sting does go to WWE, chances are good that there will be a lot of wrestlers in their late 20s and 30s that will tell him about how they were little Stingers. He was loved by so many fans and due to the fact that he had a 25 year run as a big name he's definitely one of the most popular wrestlers of any era.
