Mickie worked with CM Punk when both worked in TNA during their 'Nashville Asylum' years. James had been in WWE developmental for close to two years when Punk was signed and brought to television for dark match/Sunday Night Heat duty.
The two were paired up during a match that was supposed to air on Sunday Night Heat but when they got backstage, WWE management quickly informed them that they weren't right together at all and that the match would not be airing as scheduled.
Confused, Mickie wondered if it was something she did wrong, but it turns out that they had bigger plans in store for her, brining her in a short time later with a huge push.
