7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2003

1. Brock Lesnar Won The Only Royal Rumble Match That He Was In

The star power in this Rumble match wasn't that great, so it was obvious that it was going to end with Lesnar as the winner. Even though he was already the WWE Champion from a year earlier, WWE turned him face at the end of 2002 so that meant another push for Lesnar in this match. Lesnar was the 29th man in the match and The Undertaker was 30th. They had a big rivalry in the fall of 2002 with Lesnar in the heel role. Both guys made it to the final four with Kane and Batista, who as mentioned was still new in WWE at this point. Their showdown near the end was built up as a big deal by the commentary, but the crowd wasn't as into it as you might think. The Undertaker ended up eliminating Batista. Then it looked like he was going to work with brother Kane, but he dumped him out. Batista attacked Undertaker or at least tried to, but that didn't work because Undertaker tossed him out again. That distraction was enough for Lesnar to capitalize because he dumped Undertaker out shortly after. It would have been nice to see Lesnar look more dominant in winning the match. He didn't eliminate the most guys (only four) and he was only in the match for 8:59, which really isn't that long for a Rumble match. http://youtu.be/hfmtKNKzEDM This was the first and only time that Lesnar was in a Rumble match. It was no surprise that he was the winner of it either. Watch the Angle/Benoit match because it's a classic, the Jericho/Michaels story at the beginning of the Rumble was excellent and check out the end of the Rumble match for nostalgia sake, but the rest of it is pretty forgettable.
