7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2003

2. John Cena And Batista Made Their Royal Rumble Debuts

The year 2002 marked the debuts of four guys that would become huge stars: Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Batista and Randy Orton. Lesnar was the fastest man to stardom while the other three took a bit longer although not too long all things considered. Cena entered the match at #18. The most interesting thing he did in the match was a rap on his way to the ring. He's probably the first wrestler in Rumble history to reference a particular body part on his way to the ring. This was the last line of his rap: "My style's like a swollen penis - you can't beat me." King: "Did you like the rap JR?" JR: "90 seconds of what the hell did he say? Word to your mother." JR rules. Cena's attire in the match? Blue jeans. Not a good look, John. Cena didn't eliminate anybody from the match, but he did last 19:38. He was tossed out by Undertaker, who was the last entrant and went on an elimination spree when he arrived. Batista fared pretty well as the 28th man. He only eliminated Rikishi, but he lasted until the final four for a total of 9:55 spent in the ring. He tried to get involved in the finish by going after Undertaker. It distracted Undertaker enough that he ended up getting tossed out in the final two. That just showed that WWE was serious about pushing Batista hard even though the crowd barely reacted to him. Orton wasn't in the match due to shoulder surgery.
