7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2007

5. Batista Survived The Challenge Of Mr. Kennedy

Ken Kennedy was a guy that had a lot of momentum in WWE in the mid-2000s. He really stood out among the midcarders in WWE because of his entertaining promo style and he showed a lot of charisma in everything he did. They booked him so strong that he beat a bunch of former WWE/World Champions although a lot of those wins were cheap. He earned a World Title match against Batista, who was always around the title picture as the top face on the Smackdown brand. They had a decent match for about ten minutes. The ref bump they did was poorly done. Kennedy shoved Batista and you could see Batista turn his head to make sure that referee Nick Patrick was there, so Batista gave him an elbow that was accidental. That led to a nearfall by Kennedy and some fans in the crowd were actually chanting for Kennedy at that point. Batista finished the match off with his usual offense including the Batista Bomb finisher. It wasn't a shock that Batista won the match. You could tell that WWE wanted Kennedy to be a top guy because JBL was really pushing his performance as something great when it was really just average. Kennedy was somebody that a lot of people expected to be a top guy, but he got fired two years later and will probably never be back in WWE.
