7 Things You Should Know About WWE Royal Rumble 2007

3. CM Punk Made His Royal Rumble Debut

Any time a significant big name wrestler made their Rumble debut it's worth mentioning just because it's important to see what that guy was like during his first Rumble match. In 2007, CM Punk competed in his first Rumble match. This was at a time in Punk's career when he was just an ECW wrestler. He became really popular towards the end of 2006 with a strong showing at the Survivor Series PPV, so when he entered this match he received a nice ovation from the crowd. Punk entered #11 and lasted 27:16. Looking back at his performance, it's a shame that he didn't even eliminate anybody on his own. He was part of a group elimination of Viscera, but that was really it. It reminded me of Triple H lasting over 40 minutes in his first Rumble match and tossing out nobody. Punk left WWE in 2014. He might come back to WWE one day, but that's far from a guarantee. He'll probably be remembered in part as one of the best wrestlers in WWE history that didn't win the Rumble match.
