7 Times John Cena Did Actually Give Up

3. vs John Cena vs Big Show - Number 1 Contendership For WWE Title (No Way Out 2004)

As we enter the top three, we finally have our first example of Cena giving up clean€”for real. In a no. 1 contender€™s bout to see who would challenge for the WWE Championship at the prestigious WrestleMania XX, John Cena faced Kurt Angle and the Big Show in a Triple Threat match. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tOnbZ6cLyUc Having dispatched the Big Show from the ring via an Angle Slam, Kurt seized John Cena€™s left ankle and locked him in the Ankle Lock€”leg scissors and all. It didn€™t take long for the Dr. of Thuganomics to submit, in what still to this day remains the most recent example of Cena tapping out clean in a WWE ring. The contest€™s finish was a textbook example of how to book a Triple Threat, and ensured Angle would face Eddie Guerrero at one of the biggest WrestleManias of all time. Cena may not yet have adopted his Never Give Up gimmick at the time when this one went down, but make no mistake it€™s one of the clearest instances of John Cena giving up. But shh, don€™t let the WWE know that you€™ve found a hole in their irrefutable logic.
