7 Times John Cena Did Actually Give Up

4. vs Kurt Angle - First Blood Match (Monday Night Raw January 2 2006)

Three more common factors are involved on this one; Monday Night Raw, outside inference and Kurt Angle. On the first show of 2006, Angle and Cena faced off in another non-title match€”though this time a First Blood stipulation was added. Again, much like the case with a Last Man Standing match, we€™re not going to see a typical submission here. But given the nature of a First Blood match, defeat here for Cena can be interpreted as another instance of his body €œgiving up€€”even if he may not have intended it to. This time, the outside interference came from Daivari€”Kurt Angle€™s manager at the time. He distracted Cena, allowed Angle to land a nasty chair shot, followed by a series of strikes which ultimately busted his fallen foe open. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2mqcg_john-cena-vs-kurt-angle-first-blood_news As well as Daivari€™s involvement, the WWE looked to further protect their posterboy by having him lock Angle in the STFU in retaliation. Angle soon submitted, in essence putting Cena over. But once the referee noticed the blood streaming from Cena€™s forehead, Angle was awarded another controversial victory.
