3. The Rock Returns To Beat John Cena At WrestleMania 28
"Once In A Lifetime" That's how WWE billed this match. It was a lie and they knew it was a lie, but they weren't going to tell us that it was a lie. We had to wait a year to figure that out. Leading up to the match, Cena talked about how it was the biggest match of his career. He had to prove to himself and the world that he was as good as The Rock, who was back on the WrestleMania stage after eight years away. Since it was in Rock's hometown of Miami there were some fans that figured he would win, but my feeling was that Cena should win since he was the full timer. Having a full timer lose to a part timer like that could hurt him. That might be silly to say for Cena although it's true to a degree. They had a solid match that wasn't great, but it did have a big fight feel to it. No doubt about it. That crowd was loud for most of the match. I could feel it. As the match continued, you could tell that if Cena won the crowd would have been really angry. The Rock ended up getting the clean win. A year later he put Cena over for the WWE Title, which was the plan all along. Even though they did the rematch, "Once in a Lifetime" is still one of the better examples of Cena doing the clean job in one of the biggest matches of his career.
