7 Times The Authority Actually Helped John Cena

4. His Rival Randy Orton Was Never Given A One On One Title Rematch

It was mentioned previously that Cena received two title rematches after he lost the World Title. How many title shots did Randy Orton receive after he lost? None. At least in a one on one setting like nearly every recent former champion received. This was actually a point brought up in the storylines a few times with Orton complaining about not getting a title shot. Triple H would just say that he would get his shot soon. Orton lost the WWE Title to Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 30. Instead of giving him a rematch soon after, Hunter teamed with him and Batista to feud with The Shield for the next two PPV events. Bryan, meanwhile, feuded with Kane even though Kane barely wins any matches and really shouldn't be a top contender. After Bryan beat Kane at Extreme Rules, he was injured and had to give up the WWE Title. This point will probably be brought up now that Orton is a babyface. He can mention this in saying why he hated The Authority so much. However, WWE really dropped the ball with this angle because they could have at least done a Bryan/Orton WWE Title match on Raw if they weren't going to do it on PPV right away. It's another logic hole in their storytelling. It should be noted that Orton did receive title shots at Money in the Bank and Battleground, but they were not one on one matches that a former champion usually gets.
