When Edge won the 2001 King of the Ring event it was WWE's way of telling the fans that they saw this guy as a main event level talent. They did a lot to try to elevate him to that next level, but it wasn't really working right away. Following the WWE draft in the spring of 2002, they did something really smart: they paired him up with the best wrestler on the show, Kurt Angle. The ironic thing about the feud was that even though Edge was the most experienced wrestler, Angle was the one that was at a higher level and they knew that if Edge went over Angle in a feud that it would really raise Edge's stock. It was a great plan in theory. They had several good matches with the most memorable one being a Hair vs. Hair match at Judgment Day 2002. The babyface usually wins that match, so it was no surprise that Angle was the one that got his head shaved. Plus, you could see he was clearly going bald anyway and he's rocked the bald look ever since so it made a lot of sense that they would use it to elevate Edge. They would have a lot of other matches after that initial feud and Edge didn't fully become a top guy for a few more years, but working with Angle really helped him as an in-ring performer. If you're wondering, it was never planned that two head shaving feuds would be in this list. It just so happens that both of them were really underrated!
