7 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 27)

Ruby Riott vs. Becky Lynch gets a supplemental Down for The Riott Squad themselves, who are comfortably the least effective stable in the company at the moment. Becky fought them off single-handedly last night. This keeps her strong, but her opponents look like dweebs, continuing their seemingly chronic downward trajectory since joining the main roster.

Still, the match was fine. Becky and Ruby worked well together, created a smooth back-and-forth dynamic with plenty of momentum shifts, and only limited interference from Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan. It was a quick match at just over six minutes, but a successful one nonetheless, particularly for 'The Lass Kicker,' who scored a rare TV victory with a roll-up after slamming Riott into her gang of lackeys.

It's always heartening to see Lynch getting some shine, as she has been her division's forgotten star for far too long. Originally positioned as SmackDown's female ace, she has played only a peripheral role since losing her title to Alexa Bliss, when she should be headlining. Perhaps bigger opportunities will arise once Charlotte and Asuka conclude their WrestleMania business, and new challengers (preferably not named Carmella) come to the forefront.
