7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dark (Jul 21)

5. The Butcher and The Blade vs. Peter Avalon and Brandon Cutler

Peter Avalon and Brandon Cutler may as well be considered Dark's franchise players, despite their lack of wins. They're here every single week, doing their thing, desperately seeking that first elusive W. Now half-a-step above the uber-jobbers they were before, they are undergoing a gradual elevation through semi-competitive bouts with more established tandems and it continued last night, with The Butcher and The Blade the latest to put them down.

Butcher and Blade's control periods were suitably brutish. They wrestled not just to win, but to hurt, though Avalon and Cutler's comebacks meant the task was tougher than they may have assumed beforehand. Pretty Peter and Beautiful Brandon were never winning, though. Full Death signalled the end.

A Powerbomb/Neckbreaker combo to Cutler on the outside sent a message to the Young Bucks ahead of Dynamite. Let's see how The Butcher and The Blade mesh with the brothers Jackson.
