7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dark (Jul 21)

4. Ricky Starks vs. Will Hobbs

Ricky Starks Will Hobbs
AEW

The announcers explained in their preamble that Will Hobs was originally going to enter wrestling as part of a manager/wrestler combination with his brother. Tragically, his brother literally took a bullet for him, saving Will's life but killing his sibling, so Hobbs now sees the sport as a way of honouring his memory.

AEW should probably sign him based on that alone.

Recent outings have highlighted Hobbs' impressive power and big boy offense. This was the case again, with Will launching Ricky Starks all over the ring. He's a little Raw but his base moveset is impressive and it looks like there's plenty to work with. This was Starks' match, though: 'Absolute' was sneaky and slippery, slyly working his way into counters to gain control, eventually taking the W.

More on Starks later...
