7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (11 May)

6. Ricky & Jungle Boy Get Tricky

Ricky Starks Jungle Boy

Boring, repetitive finish aside, Jungle Boy and Ricky Starks had a good match for the FTW World Championship, imparting clean, technical exchanges and moments of showy pettiness with bursts of fire.

Much of that fire came from the babyface. Jungle Boy, who spent much of the bout being softened up for the spear, was great at executing these explosive comebacks and timed these well on Dynamite. One thrust kick that Starks sold like death before a kickout was particularly well done, before Jungle Boy believably built his way back up, compelling Ricky to literally claw his way across the ring in order to escape the Snare Trap - by his fingertips.

It's likely that Starks and Jungle Boy have a better match in them. Perhaps this is a pairing we'll see repeated many more times over the years, given that both will likely play big roles in this company's future.
