7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (18 Jan - Review)
1. Gunn Family Values
Colten and Austin Gunn are getting good heat as irritating midcard heels. Their presentation is working and they're positioned where they should be, though the ongoing storyline with The Acclaimed feels low-rent and beneath an AEW championship program.
The Gunns tried to stop Max Caster rapping about them by yelling over the top of his beat. In response, Caster got Austin's mic cut, spat rhymes on Hunter Biden and something that was entirely censored from the broadcast, before he, Anthony Bowens, and Daddy Ass stepped in the ring for a fight.
Except they didn't. Billy split it up, grabbed a microphone, and put the opposing sides in a Family Therapy segment for next week.
The Acclaimed going from the star-making Swerve In Our Glory feud and impossibly fun Jeff Jarrett/Jay Lethal run to this feels like two steps down. A middling slice of Sports Entertainment will be served next week en route to the title match, which will probably go down well enough.
