7 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (18 Jan - Review)

Ups...

7. For Jay Briscoe

Before diving into matches and storylines, AEW did right by Jay Briscoe on Wednesday night.

Tributes to the departed 38-year-old included, but weren't limited to, wrestlers like The Young Bucks and Bryan Danielson adorning black armbands adorned with "JAY", Top Flight hitting a Doomsday Device-adjacent move similar to The Briscoes' signature, and a pre-show memorial graphic that sat alone before the credits.

Afterwards, AEW taped a special 'Jay Briscoe Celebration of Life' show under the ROH banner. These column inches won't be used to spoil an episode crammed with Ring Of Honor alumni set to air on Honor Club, for free, in the near future.

It has since emerged that AEW was prevented from running a full-on tribute by network Warner Bros. Discovery.

Again, rest in peace Jamin Pugh. His loss will be felt forever.
