7 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (21 Oct)

1. Pro Wrestling Saved My Life

Speaking of Josh Alexander, you really have to feel for the guy.

He was the subject of a superlative short documentary ahead of Bound For Glory, noting that professional wrestling saved his life in many ways. Josh was the overweight kid who got bullied at school, the guy who had no friends, the guy whose parents divorced when he was three-years-old, the guy who had no motivation until, that is, he began his pro wrestling journey.

When he broke his neck, it was as if this journey had been snatched away from him. He was told he'd never wrestle again given the extent of the injury. That this was followed not long after in the film with Scott D'Amore offering him an IMPACT contract made it all that more feelgood. It was a huge deal.

IMPACT typically does well when producing these documentaries for their marquee matches. Sami Callihan, for example, received the same treatment ahead of his Bound For Glory 2019 clash vs. Brian Cage. It got his story over perfectly, and it's now done the same for Josh Alexander. Although a lot of this was already known, it felt different when coming from Josh himself. Hearing him openly discuss his neck issues was gutwrenching.

IMPACT needs to pull the trigger on him on 23 October.
