7 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (21 Oct)
2. Parallel Universe
In many ways, Christian Cage and Josh Alexander are the same entity, as they quite cleverly explained in their show-closing promo last night.
It was Alexander who entered the ring, speaking openly about his sons back at home being able to one day chase their biggest dreams because their dad was doing the same. That in itself is some great promo work and is always guaranteed a cheer, but once the 'Instant Classic' joined in, Christ, there was some tantalising material.
Christian proclaimed how he's the best wrestler in the world, he's the World Champion, Alexander will never be able to beat him, all that verbiage, only stopping once Alexander noted that the situation he's currently facing is the one Christian himself battled when he first came to IMPACT in 2005. Josh Alexander can never make it as a singles wrestler, he'll never be World Champion material, he can't rise to the occasion.
Christian Cage knows this all too well.
The pull-apart brawl that ended the segment was needed. Your writer has enjoyed them not coming to blows before the marquee match, but it was the right time here. There's a big fight feel to the match now, the feeling that it's a generational match. It can only end one way.
