7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's NXT (May 13)

1. Oh For F***s Sake

Thatcher Riddle

So that's introduction, debut match, title defence, story building, breakup tease, midmatch walkout, title change, implosion, heel-turn, backstage attack, challenge issued, match booked, and feud resolved all in the space of... 28 days. As I once said to the man who gave me a "No Regerts" tattoo, yes, everything I have asked for is here, but you've rushed this and I don't like.

Even if there were some extenuating circumstances that meant we had to have Riddle beat Thatcher on this week's episode of TV, could we not have had longer than 8 minutes for it? Aliyah vs Carter, Balor vs Grimes. and Nox vs Hartwell were all great, but could none of them have been pushed to next week to get this up to a 15-minute banger?

Trying to find some positives here, it probably is salvageable if we now get a series of barnstorming matches, but for a storyline with so much potential, it's baffling that it's already having to play catchup with itself. I can't keep saying this enough but there was just no obvious need to rush this. I'm not sure what happened to the Biven boys, but even just a few weeks of Riddle and Thatcher overcoming them while the cracks in their friendship start to appear would have sufficed.
