7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT UK (Oct 24)

1. Your Dad, Johnny Saint

Johnny Saint was an excellent choice for General Manager. If it wasn't going to be William Regal, it had to be another British legend, and as a genuine World of Sport pioneer and a major influence on today's biggest technicians, Saint was absolutely the right guy.

Unfortunately, his first spoken contribution was bad. Really bad.

Saint marched out just as the Zack Gibson/Noam Dar situation was getting tasty, drawing a great reception from the crowd. His "both of you, back in my office... NOW!" came off like a wet, unauthoritative Dad telling his two unruly kids to go to their room, and it got worse as he stood there barking at these two athletic specimens, both of whom looked mortally afraid of the suit-clad 77-year-old.

Though the writers were smart to keep it brief, it didn't hit the mark. Besides, why not just let Dar and Gibson fight there and then? They announced the duo would face next week later on in the show anyway, so surely it would've made sense, from a kayfabe standpoint, to let them settle their differences immediately?
