7 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT UK (Oct 24)

5. Power Vs. Speed

Ligero Wild Boar Mike Hitchman
WWE.com

A solid, exciting opening scrap saw the hardest working man in British Wrestling, (El) Ligero, face off against apparent forest-dweller Mike 'Wild Boar' Hitchman.

It was a classic clash of styles, with the Union Jack-clad Ligero utilising superior speed and agility to escape Boar's power, though Hitchman was no lumbering stuff. Yes, his game largely revolves around big hits, but he gets around the ring well, and certainly didn't look out of place or outclassed against a popular opponent.

Brexit Mask I was on the ropes several times. Boar battered him with spears, suplexes, and slams, but he survived a late senton, cannonball, and pop-up Powerbomb, hit an adrenaline spike and planted his opponent with a spectacular springboard tornado DDT. 1-2-3, job done.

This was a fine introduction to both competitors. Ligero came off like an exciting underdog babyface, while Boar sits somewhere between bully and monster. Another short, effective scrap on a show full of them.
