7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE Elimination Chamber 2023
3. What A Story!
Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns barely touched for the first few minutes of their match. They didn't need to. The atmosphere inside Montreal's Bell Centre was thick, and both masters knew they could afford to stall/take their time. Then, they produced a slow-burning epic of a story.
This one took twists, turns and didn't rush through a thing.
Roman jawed off with Sami's family at ringside (Zayn's wife was super-into it), and Zayn's hope spots were roared on like the Canadiens were on a momentum-filled comeback in the Stanley Cup finals. Everything felt important, and it was just a really, really strong headliner from minute one.
Sami didn't disappoint in his biggest WWE role yet either. Fingers crossed this is the start of his main event paydays and not a one off, because the dude richly deserves every penny Vince McMahon/Triple H throws at him.
