7 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE Raw (1 April - Results & Review)

6. McIntyre Buries Punk, Rollins

As pre-taped segments go, Drew McIntyre holding a viewing and delivering a eulogy for CM Punk’s WrestleMania main event dreams and Seth Rollins’ hopes of holding onto his World Heavyweight Championship was about as good as one could hope.

McIntyre smirked as audio of Punk talking about how WrestleMania was “not in the cards” and “lamented” how the world was robbed of seeing an “out-of-shape has-been” main event Mania when Punk got injured during the Royal Rumble. He then turned his attention to the guy who saw Jared Leto’s portrayal of the Joker and decided to embody that persona.

Drew pledged to close the casket on Rollins’ title reign, which was a perfect way to describe how he viewed the situation. McIntyre considers himself a man wronged who is on a righteous quest, so it’s only natural that he’d see himself as putting a knackered, distracted Seth out of his misery.

Whether that comes to pass on Sunday is still up in the air, but his closing argument – while largely a repeat of everything that’s been said before – was just fine.
